Do you worry about not having enough cash to carry you through the winter with your farms, nurseries, or garden centers?
Even the spring can be slim pickings until your crops start coming in or your business picks up. Even the late fall can be bad if you get surprise cold or frost that hits your products that you were counting on for more money.
For farms, think about constructing some hoop houses or high tunnels to give you some extra money. Use them for cold weather crops that you can sell to the customers that you have now, restaurants, or local all season farmers’ markets.
For garden centers and nurseries, think about keeping some of your hoop houses up through the winter to bring in extra cash instead of letting them lay vacant.
Now folks are out looking for fresh local produce to grace their tables in the winter months. They want to eat healthier. Especially after the holidays, it is just like folks all going to the gyms to work out because they want to get in better shape.
If you treat your customers right, they will trust you and be loyal to you. Those loyal and trusting customers WANT to BUY from YOU. If you let them know what you have available, they would trudge through deep snow to back you up.
Even the USDA wants to help you out. See this video they made especially for business folks like you to put up hoop houses or high tunnels, by clicking HERE.
