As the date for your class gets closer, be aware of what the weather forecast is.
Anticipate if it will be too hot and sunny, so provide shade. If it will be rainy, will just a tarp or canopy be enough, or will you have to move inside due to wind and/or thunder and lightning.
If there is really bad weather forecast for your area such as terrible wind, lightening, hurricanes/typhoons, or tornadoes, you may want to reschedule depending on the severity. This is a good example of why you should request folk’s cell phone numbers in case of changes.
If it is cold, most folks should know to dress for that weather. If it is extremely cold, hold the lecture inside under cover. Greenhouses are great for this especially when it is 15 degrees outside with a foot or two of snow; your customers will think that it is springtime in the middle of winter and love that earthy smell and want to come back soon.
If the weather is icy or snowy, have a snow date to reschedule the class on. There is no sense to endanger your customers with bad weather. I know many folks who will trek through anything just to get to something they love.
I know because I have braved severe weather just to get to events. Now when I look back on them, I realize that I should not have risked such bad weather.
One time I was attending a fancy dinner. I had a hard time managing to drive through a snow storm just to get there. After the event was over at 2 AM, there was 14 more inches of snow in the parking lot. Luckily someone had a plow on their vehicle and offered to plow everyone out. I ended up staying at a nearby hotel and enjoyed their heated pool and Jacuzzi.
A couple times I drove through some pretty bad snow storms to get to some winter lectures on fishing because I really wanted to know the information that the topic was about on those nights.
